Howdy, y’all!

Welcome to Lucky 11 Studios, home for the design work of Chris Skiles.

Currently residing in Houston, Chris is a creative with over 15 years of experience in creative direction, branding, design and photo direction working with some of the best brands in retail and publishing. Chris is currently leading the creative team at Academy Sports + Outdoors — a $5 billion dollar-per-year retailer with over 23,000 employees located in 16 states across the South, Southeast, and Midwest of the US with over 245+ locations.

Before his jump into the world of retail, Chris was the founding Design Director of Houstonia magazine where he led a small art department in the launch of the city’s first paid-circulation regional city publication. During his three years of tenure with Houstonia the magazine was the highest-selling publication in the city— gaining well over 75,000 subscribers — while averaging roughly 12,000 copies sold each month on the newsstand and winning multiple regional and national design awards under his guidance.

Chris was also the Associate Art Director at Seattle Met magazine in Seattle, Washington where he worked as one of only two designers for the highly-respected regional city publication. He was Art Director of  MauiTime Weekly in Hawaii, Art Director at Marion Montgomery, Inc., Advertising Art Director and Associate Designer for ENVY Houston & Dallas magazines (no longer in publication) and Graphic Designer for Regency Publishing where he worked on titles such as Farm & Ranch, Pinnacle and Residence magazines — also in Houston, Texas.
