Aloha folks! This week’s feature was basically a recap of the recent State of the Union address by President Barack Obama—The good, the bad and the ugly—written by MauiTime’s own Jacob Shafer. For the cover I decided to find some photography (done by Stephen C.) of Barack that wasn’t the normal smile and wave, or serious speaking shot from a podium. I wanted something that gave a feeling of what we’re all feeling—a little disappointed by this last year. He’s looking down in serious thought—almost sadness—and I used the title as a large “weight” over his shoulders. Hopefully that message translates. All-in-all I think it’s one of the better Barack covers I’ve seen—although I’d say I have nothing on the Rolling Stone cover that came out last year, that thing was amazing.
