MauiTime 13.24
This week we had an amazing article written by Greg Mebel about the deep cuts in the Maui Public Defender’s office that are impacting both the guilty and the innocent in the legal system, as well as the taxpayers. We didn’t have too much of an idea of where to go with this cover at first, but knew we wanted to stray far from the normal “stock-looking” law photos. What I came up with was a bright, interesting and direct approach to the story. I made the headline really large to jump off the stands and grab a little attention from a normally “not that interesting” subject. I gave a halftone screen look to the entire image and offset it slightly with green, yellow and black to have a sort of silkscreened look. I’m pretty happy with the results.
As always, be sure to check out more at MauiTime.com.
