For our annual Charity Gift Guide, we decided that going the route of a local volunteer portrait would be our best bet to really hit the message home here around the holiday season. This 40-page special issue is full of different local charities “wish lists” for the holidays—and gives people a simple, single source for how to help. Great photography once again by Maui’s own Sean Hower, and with this issue falling on a “short week,” I’m pretty amazed we got it out the door in pretty much a day and a half. You’ll notice this one looks pretty similar to the Bar Issue special about a month earlier, and I think this might be a good look and feel for branding our “special issues.” But I suppose only time will tell if that holds true.
