This week was the first issue of our new annual Bar Issue special. We covered all the local bars & clubs on Maui with a comprehensive list plus reviews, and although we didn’t increase the page count—I think this issue should be a huge success. I directed our new photography intern John Law on a “Maui mission” of sorts, but left him plenty of room to put his artistic style into it. I think it makes for a really raw, gritty “bar” feel and hope other people enjoy it as much as I enjoyed throwing it together.
Big congrats to John Law on getting his first cover shot! He wasn’t expecting it, but good work speaks for itself.
