Farmers Life Poster

Farmers Life Insurance is having a poster design contest celebrating their 100th anniversary. They were looking for a creative design that “embraces the ideals of Farmers Life and how they’ve insured and protected the dreams of countless families, individuals, and small businesses over the last 100 years.” This is my entry into the contest.

The design is made to be simple and elegant with a nice blend of both old world and new world look and feel. A classic image that runs deep with meaning. Farmers Life has been protecting people’s dreams and ambitions for 100 years—and this image is supposed to represent those ideals from the beginning. The 100 Anniversary logo has more of a modern feel, but keeps true to those original roots.

This design is 24″ x 36″ and is meant to be spot printed with Metallic Pantone 872 C to really “pop” the logo and give it a sense of elegance. Hopefully they like it, because Lord knows I could use the $10,000 1st Place prize! Actually, I could even use the 2nd place $2,500 or 3rd place $1,000 prize. Who am I kidding?

Winners aren’t announced until July 31, 2009—so if I hear anything I’ll let you know. But with a prize like that I’m sure the competition will be steep. Eeks! But I’m always down for a challenge! Lets just hope nobody sees this and tries ripping it off….

P.S. I wish you guys could see more of the details in this piece. The small sample image really doesn’t do it much justice. Oh, well…

Well, I just got a response from Farmers informing me of the winners. They are:

    1st Place Shernon, Virginia
    2nd Place Ahmed, Michigan
    3rd Place Liz, South Carolina

However, they have yet to post the results or the winning designs on the website. Does the Ahmed who won 2nd place happen to be the same Ahmed as the second commenter above?
