This week we had a amazing feature by our always-talented Associate Editor Anu Yagi about “Talking Pidgin,” and what the shared dialect says about who Hawaiian people are, where they’ve been and where they’re headed. For the cover I wanted to play with the idea of “talking pidgin” and thought, “What better way to talk pidgin than to have a talking pigeon?!?” The idea was to have the cover super-simple and let the large illustration of the pigeon and type do all the talking for this one. I think it came out really well, and this visually-striking piece should do well here locally.
