This week’s issue is a special Mother’s Day report on breast feeding. For the cover I wanted to keep in simple and artistic, but give it enough edge to spark controversy and get people talking about it. The result is a extremely tight shot of a baby feeding, black and white, with the only thing color the bright blue eyes of the baby. Although this isn’t the most complex cover from a design perspective—sometimes less is more. Last thing I wanted to do was muddy up a beautiful image with design elements. In the end, I think this cover came out really good and I can’t wait to see what sort of response we get here locally.
